Ford's Garage has officially rolled into Sanford—and if you haven’t stopped in yet, you’re missing something special.
Just five weeks into opening, this unique burger-and-brew destination is already creating a buzz throughout the community. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with General Manager Virgil Morar, and one thing was immediately clear—this isn’t just another restaurant opening. This is a business that truly wants to become part of Sanford.
Virgil shared that choosing Sanford wasn’t by accident. He believes strongly in the continued growth and revitalization happening throughout the area, especially around the mall and surrounding developments. More importantly, he felt the people of Sanford would genuinely connect with what Ford’s Garage brings to the table—both in atmosphere and experience.
And that experience is something you notice the moment you walk in.
The restaurant is designed like a 1920s service garage, complete with classic cars, vintage gas pumps, and automotive memorabilia throughout. It’s not just décor—it’s an immersive experience that feels fun, nostalgic, and completely different from anything else in the area.
But as Virgil emphasized, “The atmosphere might bring people in, but it’s the food and service that bring them back.”
And he’s right.
During my visit, I sampled the fried chicken tenders—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and packed with flavor in every bite.
One of the highlights for me, though, was the Estate Black Angus Burger. This isn’t just a good burger—it’s a well-crafted, high-quality Black Angus burger that’s cooked exactly how you want it, topped with fresh ingredients that complement rather than overpower the flavor of the beef. Every bite had that perfect combination of juiciness, texture, and bold flavor that you look for in a truly great burger.
I also tried the ahi tuna bowl, which was absolutely excellent—fresh, light, and full of vibrant flavors that made it a great option if you’re looking for something a little different from the traditional burger. In fact, their rotating bowl menu has quickly become a hit, with options like shrimp, ahi tuna, and even a burger-inspired bowl, all changing quarterly to keep things fresh.
And if you’re a beer lover, you’re in for a treat. Ford’s Garage features over 30 beers on tap, including several selections from local Sanford-area breweries. It’s another way they’re tying into the community and giving guests a true local experience.
Speaking of community, one of the more unique touches Virgil shared was how they’ve incorporated local leaders into the menu itself. Several burgers are named after individuals in the community, and those individuals actually had the opportunity to choose the burger that represents them. It’s a creative and personal way to connect the restaurant directly to the people who make Sanford special.
Beyond the food, what stood out most in our conversation was Virgil himself. He’s a hands-on leader who has spent years in the restaurant industry, and he takes real pride in both the quality of what’s served and the level of service his team delivers.
That pride extends to his staff as well. He spoke about Ford’s Garage as not just a workplace, but a place where employees can grow and enjoy what they do—and that kind of culture tends to show up in the guest experience.
Even more importantly, Ford’s Garage is already making an effort to connect with the local community. They’ve joined the Sanford Chamber and are actively supporting local nonprofits—something Virgil made clear is a core part of their mission moving forward.
Founded in 2012 in Fort Myers, just down the road from Henry Ford Winter Estate, the brand has grown rapidly across Florida and beyond. As an official licensee of Ford Motor Company, the restaurant combines American history, automotive culture, and great food into one memorable experience.
And now, that experience has found a home right here in Sanford.
If you’re looking for a place that offers more than just a meal—a place with personality, energy, and a genuine commitment to the community—Ford’s Garage is well worth the visit.
Trust me… this is one you’ll want to check out.
